Barber: Republicans Believe They Have a Strong Case Obama Has Violated 'Take Care Clause'

The Washington Free Beacon's Ellison Barber discussed House Speaker John Boehner's (R., Ohio) planned lawsuit against President Obama Friday, telling The Real Story her Republican sources "flatly" say they have a strong case that Obama has violated the Take Care Clause.

"They're not worried about it at all," she said. "I think they do believe they have a really strong case to say the president has violated the Take Care Cause. The reason why they are doing the employer mandate instead of immigration or some of the other ideas that we heard thrown around is they think that is the best legal challenge that they actually have according to their lawyers. I think they're trying to be careful with it. They're trying to make a strong case."

Barber pointed out she'd just received an email before the interview from the Democratic National Committee regarding the lawsuit, which is using it as a means of raising money. Obama himself has lampooned the lawsuit in recent speeches.

"They're mocking to rile up their base and use it as a fundraising tool, and so far they've been a little bit successful in that," Barber said.
