Today, we remember Americans whose lives were cut short 13 years ago, and reflect on the bravery and resilience our nation showed in the face of terrorism.
Rep. Randy Hultgren (R., Ill.) honored Todd Beamer, a passenger on flight United 93, Thursday on the House floor. Beamer, a former classmate of Hultgren, famously remarked "let’s roll" to fellow passengers before taking control of the plane and ultimately crashing it into a field in Shanksville, Penn.
"Honoring the sacrifice of Todd and all who perished on 9/11 requires we forever remain vigilant in defense of our nation’s cherished values," Hultgren said.
Congress honored Beamer and other brave victims of 9/11 yesterday with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor.
