Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R., N.H.) continued the push for new sanctions on Iran during remarks on the Senate floor Wednesday, saying Congress needs to pass legislation to provide "an insurance policy to make sure that Iran knows that they are not going to play us."
"If Iran is serious about a nuclear weapons agreement that takes away their capability of having a nuclear weapon, then they should not have a problem with prospective sanctions by this Congress, because those sanctions would only go in place again if they violate the interim agreement," Ayotte said.
"And if their words mean anything, then they shouldn't have a problem with the fact that we're just saying that if you violate it, we will impose additional sanctions," Ayotte added.
