After much persistence from the American Civil Liberties Union and the #JusticeforJane social media campaign, news broke Wednesday morning that the 17-year-old illegal immigrant "Jane Doe," who was being held in a Texas detention center, was able to obtain her "constitutionally-protected right" to have an abortion.

Lawmakers came out to praise the Washington, D.C. Circuit court's announcement after it ruled in favor of "Jane Doe," deciding she could move forward with her abortion Wednesday morning.

Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards called the 17-year-old illegal immigrant's decision her "constitutional right."

Valerie Jarrett, former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, agreed with Richards, saying "government's role should be to enforce the law. Not to obstruct it."

Liberal celebrities joined in the celebration.

Along with liberal activists, members of the media celebrated the decision.

Pro-life activists also responded to the case, rejecting the idea that justice was served.

"We unequivocally reject abortion advocates' narrative that justice has been done in this case. Instead the extreme agenda of the abortion lobby and the ACLU has claimed two victims and made a cruel mockery of the 'American dream,'" Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, said in a statement.

The 17-year-old illegal immigrant, nevertheless, released a statement in which she said her decision to obtain an abortion is "my life, my decision" and she wanted justice.
