FACTCHECK: Bernie Sanders Doesn't Know His Underarm Deodorants

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) overestimated the number of underarm deodorants for sale in an interview with reporter John Harwood of CNBC, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

Sanders, who recently kicked off his campaign for the Democratic nominee for president in 2016, answered "10 Questions" regarding his views on income inequality, Hillary Clinton, and his opinion on U.S. consumers' expanding choice of antiperspirant.

"You don't necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country," Sanders said.

An independent investigation carried out by the Washington Free Beacon at a local CVS in Arlington, Va., found that consumers had the choice of 15 spray deodorant variants for men and women, paling in comparison to the nearly 70 different variants of traditional stick deodorants for sale in the store.

The Free Beacon staff awards the senator from Vermont five Pinocchios for his estimation of the American consumer market economy.
