Brennan: Info from Detainees after Enhanced Interrogations Was 'Useful' in Hunt for Bin Laden

December 11, 2014

CIA Director John Brennan confirmed that information obtained from enhanced interrogation techniques (or 'EITs') was "useful" in planning and carrying out the operation that killed Osama bin Laden.

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell attempted to de-link the CIA's use of EITs from the bin Laden operation.

"Was the useful information for Bin Laden before the torture or water boarding was used?" Mitchell asked.

Brennan did not use the term "torture," despite Mitchell's and other journalists' attempt to force him to use the word.

"There was information obtained subsequent to the application of EITs from detainees that was useful in the bin Laden operation," Brennan said.
