Republican Jeff Bell is touting his candidacy with a new ad about his involvement in the Reagan administration’s economic plan.
Bell, who is running against incumbent Democrat Cory Booker for New Jersey’s U.S. Senate seat, has led a relatively quiet campaign in the Garden State, but is well known inside the Beltway. Bell co-founded the American Principles Project, is an author and political consultant, and served under Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan.
"Jeff Bell worked with Ronald Reagan and helped develop the plan that took the country out of the doldrums," the ad begins.
It then underscores Bell’s success in working to cut taxes, stimulate the economy, and end the Cold War. Now, he wants to stop bureaucrats in Washington from "undermining the dollar."
"Ahead of his time," the ad says. "Now it’s his time."
Bell previously ran for U.S. Senate in 1978 and 1982. Recent polls show him trailing Booker by 12 points.
