The first female Hispanic governor in the country Susana Martinez (R., N.M.) is cruising to reelection, but that's not stopping New Mexico Democrats from lodging racially-tinged insults.
The Weekly Standard obtained video of Martinez's opponent N.M. attorney general Gary King saying Martinez "does not have a Latino heart" at a Democratic fundraiser.
"She said you can't go out there and just vote for somebody for governor because they have a Latino surname," King said, referring an earlier speaker. "She said you have to look at them and find out if they have a Latino heart. And we know that Susana Martinez does not have a Latino heart."
The comments were made Saturday.
