Despite its title as America’s Finest City, San Diego, Ca. has a well-documented and sordid history of institutional corruption. Whether it's city employees treating the city pension fund as their personal ATM (and nearly bankrupted the city in 2002) or the mayor getting caught using City Hall as a frat house, San Diego's beauty belies a seedy underbelly. What a bummer.

Are these abuses merely coincidental? Or are they the result oftheir citizens living on pristine beaches and eating the dopest Mexican food found on this side of the danged fence? I can tell you from experience that the perfection that is carne asada fries can make somebody a little loopy.

The latest instance of San Diego institutional ickiness occurred at the most basic of establishments: the strip club. 2 Chainz would not approve.

Twenty-five strippers at a local San Diego ta-ta club filed a civil rights claim against SDPD, alleging cops held them at work against their will and took photos of their tats.

Ten San Diego police officers raided the Cheetahs Gentlemen’s Club in Kearny Mesa on March 6 to check 30 dancers’ permits, according to a claim filed by attorney Dan Gilleon. (Emphasis mine)

Don't trifle with S.D. 5-0. They call in the raid squad to check a bunch of half-to-fully nekkid dancers' paperwork.

According to Mayer, the checks are vital because the work permits can be compromised.

Additionally, adult dancers often change their appearances, so documenting tattoos are critical to help them verify a person's identity or prove that they're giving false information, Mayer said.

First, you couldn't go to a Jimmy Buffett concert without getting harassed. Now you can't blow off steam at Cheetahs? Doesn't SDPD know what happens in da club, stay in da club?

I know San Diegans are a tax-averse people. So for the price of Free.99, I’m going to do a quick tat scan for these Cheetahs strippers to make sure they pass inspection.

Cheetah's cheetah-print is a savvy move of integrated marketing.

Two cheetah-tatted strippers are better than none.

I live in Washington and it took me all of five minutes to scan names and tats on Cheetah's Facebook page. In yet another instance of tax waste, SDPD deemed this endeavor warranted a strike team to look at unarmed/unclothed women? Taxpayers could pay the strippers directly if they wanted police to stop-and-frisk Brittany Lynn, Shandi, and Jamie Lynn.

This is the same Cheetahs strip club of San Diego's legendary "Strippergate" scandal that rocked the city back in the 2000s. Three city councilmen, principal among them a rising Dem star, got busted for accepting bribes from the club's former owner, who wanted the councilmen to reform the city's strict "Look, But Don't Touch Policy."

It appears SDPD took that law a bit too far.
