Consider what transpired in late November, when liberal "sports" "journalist" Carron Phillips of Deadspin saw a photo of Holden Armenta, a nine-year-old Kansas City Chiefs fan wearing red and black face paint along with a badass Native American headdress during a game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
As if possessed by a CNN-esque desire to be sued for defaming a minor, Phillips vented his liberal self-loathing in an article demanding the NFL denounce the nine-year-old boy for looking awesome while supporting his favorite team. Armenta had "found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time," the lib journo raged.
The article included a screenshot of the minor that falsely implied Armenta, who is Native American, had his entire face painted black in the old-school racist fashion of Ralph "Coonman" Northam. Remember him? He's the former Democratic governor of Virginia who suffered no consequences after admitting to wearing blackface on multiple occasions in the past. Phillips went on to blame Republican opposition to critical race theory for inspiring the kid to "recreate racism better than before."
Seriously, bro? Deadspin was ultimately forced to extensively revise the article and issue a half-hearted apology after Armenta's family threatened legal action. "We regret any suggestion that we were attacking the fan," the website wrote in response to criticism of its article attacking said fan.
We wish we didn't have to keep giving awards to innocent children viciously defamed by liberal journalists, but such is the world we live in. Holden Armenta did nothing wrong, and we can only hope he follows in the footsteps of Nicholas Sandmann, the 2019 Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year who won financial settlements from CNN, NBC, and the Washington Post after being falsely accused of racism.
For refusing to let the liberal haters stop him from proudly expressing his BIPOC heritage, Holden Armenta is a 2023 Free Beacon Man of the Year. Congratulations in advance on your future role as owner of Deadspin, a garbage website whose content will only improve with a child in charge.
