PPP Confessed to Witholding Democrat's Negative Poll Results

Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling (PPP) revealed on Wednesday that it declined to publish a survey showing a Democratic Colorado legislator trailing an opponent by 12 points.

The legislator, State Sen. Angela Giron, was defeated by 12 points in a recall election on Tuesday night.

"In a district that Barack Obama won by almost 20 points I figured there was no way that could be right and made a rare decision not to release the poll," wrote PPP president Tom Jenson on the firm’s website on Wednesday.

Jensen said PPP "should have had more faith in our numbers." He defended the decision by pointing to data that, he claimed, suggested the race was tighter.

Giron and State Senate President John Morse on Tuesday became the first Colorado legislators in the state’s history to be successfully recalled.

The race was widely seen as a referendum on recent gun control measures passed by the state legislature. Both Giron and Morse voted for the measures.
