President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that "collusion is not a crime" and claimed "there was No Collusion," except by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.

"Collusion is not a crime, but that doesn’t matter because there was No Collusion (except by Crooked Hillary and the Democrats)!" Trump tweeted.

The president’s tweet comes one day after his attorney, Rudy Giuliani, said he does not think collusion with Russia would be considered a crime. "Four months, they're not going to be colluding with Russia, which I don't even know if that's a crime, colluding about Russians," Giuliani told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on Monday. "You start analyzing the crime -- the hacking is the crime. ... The President didn't hack," he continued.

In April, former FBI Director James Comey acknowledged collusion "is not actually a thing that exists under the federal laws of the United States." He added, however, that there is a question of whether Americans conspired with Russia to violate U.S. laws.

Giuliani also denied that top Trump campaign officials held a planning meeting days before meeting with Russians offering dirt on Clinton. The president and his legal team continue to deny he was aware of a June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower between top campaign officials and a Russian lawyer offering damaging information about Clinton. Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, claims the president knew in advance about the meeting, CNN reported last week.

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election has not publicly produced evidence that the president engaged in criminal activity during the campaign. Nevertheless, Trump’s legal team is preparing to counter the results of the investigation.

Giuliani told USA Today his team is working on a "counter-report" to challenge any allegations made against the president. Trump’s lawyer has said he expects Mueller to file a report by Sept. 1.

Trump’s latest tweets come just days after he launched a separate Twitter attack against Mueller and the Russia investigation.
