The only woman enrolled to become a Marine Corps infantry officer is no longer a student in the course after failing to complete two conditioning hikes last month.

The Marine Corps’ Training and Education Command confirmed Monday that she was among 33 other officers who have failed to complete the course out of the 97 who began July 6.

This was the second time the female officer attempted to complete the Infantry Officer’s Course.

Capt. Joshua Pena told Military.com last week that she had been reclassified to another occupational specialty in the Marines.

Pena said there are no longer any female officers enrolled in the course, which is scheduled to conclude Sept. 20.

No female Marine has passed the Infantry Officer’s Course since Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that all military combat roles would be open to women last year.

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said in April that the Marine Corps would not alter physical standards to assist female officers.

The U.S. Army gained its first female infantry officer in the spring.
