Secretary of the Veterans Administration Eric Shinseki has rescinded an $8500 bonus to Phoenix VA Director Sharon Helman, CNN reports.
According to CNN's Jake Tapper, Helman received the bonus despite an open Inspector General investigation into allegations her agency created an off the books waiting lists for veterans seeking treatment.
Helman received a $9000 bonus in 2013.
Shinseki is reportedly responsible for signing off on all bonuses, but the department's chairman Jeff Miller attributed the bonus to an "administrative error."
