Waters Mixes up Putin With Pence on 'The View'

August 4, 2017

Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) made a blunder during her appearance on "The View" Friday, when she said Russian President Vladimir Putin's name instead of Vice President Mike Pence's.

Co-host Joy Behar asked Waters, who has often called for President Donald Trump's impeachment, whether she thought Pence would do a better job as president.

"When we're finished with Trump we have to go after Putin. He's next," Waters said.

"Putin or Pence?" Behar asked.

"Uh, Pence," Waters said.

"We'll get two for one, Trump and Putin, then we'll go after Pence," Behar said to break up the awkward moment.

This is not the first time Waters has made a blunder involving Putin: In a February news conference, Waters said Trump "is wrapping his arms around Putin, while Putin is continuing to advance into Korea."
