Clinton Fields Hard Questions on Today Show

Hillary Clinton was subjected to scrutiny from the hosts and studio audience of the Today show Monday during an hour-long "pancakes and politics" special.

Today’s roughly 4.7 million viewers were treated to questions about Clinton’s pancake-flipping ability, favorite book, and Bluth-like love of clear liquor.

Clinton, a former bartender, demonstrated humor, heart, and humanity throughout the show.

Transcript below:

WILLIE GEIST: This crowd is well fed and they have a lot of questions, so let’s get right to it.

EVERYDAY AMERICAN #1: Secretary Clinton, thank you for this opportunity. Honestly, is there anyone left in the Republican Party—I’m talking the Senate and the House—who you can work with?

HILLARY CLINTON: That’s exactly the right question.

EVERYDAY AMERICAN #2: First, I want to thank you for your candidacy. I’m wondering what your favorite celebratory, unhealthy drink is.

CLINTON: A martini. A vodka martini.

EVERYDAY AMERICAN #3: Secretary Clinton you’ve had a lot of tough questions this morning—this may be the toughest question you get all day. Many years ago, we saw another Clinton at his inauguration play an instrument and have a song. What song or instrument would you play at yours?

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: I guess you’ve probably flipped a pancake before in your life?

CLINTON: I have. I have. Never in a barn.

GUTHRIE: What are the merits of a female leader? What does a female bring that a male doesn’t?

EVERYDAY AMERICAN #4: My question is, what’s your favorite book?

CARSON DALY: "Facebook Randy" asking, do you think you have what it takes to take on the Trump?

DALY: How has your experience as first lady prepared you to be in the Oval Office?

GUTHRIE: Would you consider a female running mate?

DALY: Would you consider a vice presidential position?

CLINTON: No.

<Extended cackling and clapter.>

MATT LAUER: I thought the questions were good.

NATALIE MORALES: Really great questions.
