Warner: 'I Don't Believe the Democratic Party Is Corrupt'

Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.) shot down reports of Democratic National Committee dysfunction and stated, "I don't believe the Democratic Party is corrupt" during a Sunday appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Host John Dickerson finished up his interview with Warner by focusing on former DNC interim chairwoman Donna Brazile's claim that the DNC was rigged for Hillary Clinton.

"The former D.N.C. chairman Donna Brazile has dropped a bomb this week, saying that basically, 'The Democratic National Committee was rigged for Hillary Clinton in her favor.' Do you believe that's true?" Dickerson asked.

Warner, for the most part, deflected.

"Listen, I've seen some of the press reports. What I'm a lot more focused on [is] we've got a really critical election coming up in two days in Virginia where we elect a governor," Warner said.

Dickerson pushed back on his original question about DNC dysfunction and corruption.

"But the problem is, Democrats don't want to get out and vote if they think their party is corrupt, which is the charge that Brazile is making. So if you don't address the corrupt part, how do you get people to go vote for a Democratic candidate?" he asked.

"Well, I can tell you there's a heck of a lot of enthusiasm. I don't believe the Democratic Party is corrupt," Warner said before again pitching Democratic gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam.
