Trump: Fake News Media 'Desperate to Write Badly' About 'Massive Tax Cuts'

Donald Trump

The day after Congress passed the Republican tax reform bill, President Donald Trump said Thursday that the "fake news media" is desperate for a way to spin stories depicting the tax overhaul in a negative light.

Both the House and Senate passed the Republican-backed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on Wednesday.

Although the bill has been widely accepted and supported by Republicans, Trump noted on Twitter that most mainstream media outlets are writing about the tax cuts in a bad light in order to "please their Democrat bosses."

"The Massive Tax Cuts, which the Fake News Media is desperate to write badly about so as to please their Democrat bosses, will soon be kicking in and will speak for themselves," Trump tweeted. "Companies are already making big payments to workers. Dems want to raise taxes, hate these big Cuts!"

Most Democrats have been opposed to the bill since its introduction as a major tax overhaul that would cut taxes for American citizens and provide bigger breaks to corporations. Democrats claim the people who get the biggest break from the bill are the richest few in the country. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) has referred to the tax plan as "Armageddon," but her critiques have been found to contain omissions or exaggerations, and even inaccuracies.
