Donald Trump’s campaign has "signaled strongly" that he will choose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, the New York Times reported Thursday.
Trump’s advisers have notified national Republican officials that the presumptive nominee would make the announcement alongside Pence.
He will officially disclose his decision Friday morning during an event at Trump Tower in New York City, according to his campaign.
Jason Miller, Trump’s senior communications adviser, took to Twitter to deny the reports.
Pence on Thursday dropped his re-election bid for Indiana’s governorship ahead of the state’s Friday deadline to remove himself from the ballot, IndyStar reported.
Pence, a former congressman, surfaced as a favorite among Trump’s advisers during the past week.
Trump met with Pence in his Indiana home Wednesday morning, bringing along his kids, Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Pence described the meeting as "very warm" and said he was honored to be on Trump’s list of potential vice presidents.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich are also under consideration for the vice presidential slot.
