Rosie O’Donnell: 'Morning Joe' and Mainstream Media Helped Trump’s Campaign

Comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell on Monday accused MSNBC of favoritism toward Donald Trump during his presidential campaign and called for the president to be impeached.

MSNBC host Ari Melber played a clip of Trump making a joke about O’Donnell during a presidential primary debate, and she argued the mainstream media enabled his rise. She specifically denounced MSNBC’s "Morning Joe," whose host Joe Scarborough lavished attention on Trump during the primary but has since become a fierce critic of the president.

"He was allowed to with help from the mainstream media and MSNBC, all you have to do is look at the tapes from 'Morning Joe,'" O’Donnell said. "They had him on once a week, and they all ganged up."

She said Scarborough, along with co-anchor Willie Geist, did not stick up for her or anyone else unfairly attacked by Trump.

"Willie Geist was very anti-Rosie O'Donnell," she said. "So was Joe Scarborough, so was every reporter on Fox. It went on and on and on and on."

"Nobody would stand up to him," she added.

Not only did O’Donnell call for impeaching Trump, she said Trump has "no soul" and every congressman who fails to vote for articles of impeachment should be replaced.

"He's a horrible, horrible human with no soul. He has a very serious mental disorder," she said, referring to the so-called "duty to warn" movement of psychologists claiming Trump is mentally ill. "This guy is by no means mentally stable enough to run this country, and he should be impeached, and every congressman who hasn't filed those articles should lose their job."

The movement to impeach Trump has grown to include a small group of Democratic congressmen, who introduced articles of impeachment as early as last year. The push to impeach has largely been led by Democratic megadonor Tom Steyer, a billionaire who started the "Need to Impeach" campaign.

Trump and O'Donnell have feuded for years. At the first Republican presidential primary debate in 2015, when confronted by Megyn Kelly about derogatory remarks he'd made about women such as calling them "pigs" and "fat slobs," Trump quipped, "Only Rosie O'Donnell."
