MSNBC: Ossoff an 'Unlikely Hero,' You 'Can Feel the Energy'

Georgia Democratic candidate for Congress Jon Ossoff was the subject of a profile by MSNBC's Kasie Hunt that aired on Tuesday. Hunt calls Ossoff an "unlikely hero," with "a lot of energy."

Ossoff hopes to fill the seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. Hunt points out that the House seat is highly contested, and people have traveled from as far as Berkley, Calif. to volunteer for Ossoff's campaign.

"Do you feel like you've become the vessel of the hopes and dreams of Democrats all over the country who can't stand Donald Trump?" Hunt asked Ossoff.

"Well this thing has taken on a little bit of a life of its own in the past few months, but all politics is local," Ossoff answered.

But Hunt continued pushing that Democrats around the country have their "hopes and dreams" pinned on Ossoff's victory.

"Ossoff comes across as an unlikely hero," Hunt said, noting that the seat is normally won by Republicans.

Hunt continued the piece on Ossoff without mentioning that he doesn't live in the congressional district that he is running in or that he has admitted to misleading people on his national security credentials. Ossoff also has controversy surrounding him from ties to the al-Jazeera news network.

Hunt said that Ossoff may not reach the 50 percent he needs, but "it is very clear there's a lot of energy around him."

"I will say you can feel the energy around Ossoff here on the ground," Hunt said.
