MSNBC in Disbelief That Clinton Didn't Send Tim Kaine an Advance Copy of Her Book

Hillary Clinton's 2016 running mate did not get an advanced copy of her election memoir and will have to buy What Happened like everyone else.

Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.) told MSNBC on Monday that he had not gotten to read Clinton's new book yet but was "psyched" to check it out.

"I've seen stories about it, but ... the excerpts are not necessarily like a fair reflection of the whole thing, so I'm excited to read it," he said. "I don't have an advanced copy, but I'm going to buy one."

Excerpts of the book leading up to its release Tuesday often focused on the considerable blame Clinton spreads around for her defeat at the hands of President Donald Trump.

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell sounded pitying after she played the clip of Kaine on her show, wondering if he was going to line up at a bookstore with regular people to purchase a copy.

"How is it possible that she would not send a copy to her running mate?" Mitchell asked.

New York Times reporter Amy Chozick quipped that Kaine was "one of the only ones" who did not get an advanced copy, noting that Kaine is hardly mentioned in Clinton's nearly 500-page book.

Democrats on Capitol Hill have had a negative reaction towards Clinton's book and subsequent promotion of it, citing a desire to look forward rather than backward.
