MSNBC's Katy Tur Outraged at Trump's Comments About Domestic Violence Omitting Mentions of Women

MSNBC host Katy Tur ripped President Donald Trump's remarks on Wednesday where he stated he was "totally opposed to domestic violence," expressing alarm that he didn't mention women in his comments.

Trump briefly spoke to reporters in the continuing aftermath of the resignation of White House staff secretary Rob Porter, who has been accused by his two ex-wives of physical and emotional abuse.

The White House has come under fire for its conflicting timelines with the FBI over when top officials, including Chief of Staff John Kelly, knew about the allegations against Porter that prevented him from getting a permanent security clearance.

"I'm totally opposed to domestic violence, and everybody here knows that," Trump said Wednesday in the Oval Office. "I am totally opposed to domestic violence of any kind. Everyone knows that, and it almost wouldn't even have to be said, so now you hear it, but you all know it. Thank you all very much."

When MSNBC went back to her in the studio, Tur repeated Trump's remarks, but she appeared agitated at what she didn't hear.

"Donald Trump, once again though, not saying, 'I believe the women.' Not saying, 'I support the women.' Not using 'her' or 'she' or saying anything about women in that statement," Tur said sharply. "Just saying he opposes domestic violence of all kinds. He's been asked this over and over and over and over again."

"This is the first time that we are getting an answer that even broaches domestic violence," she added. "The last time we got an answer from the president directly like this, he was talking about how wonderful a person Rob Porter was, and that they wished him well, that the allegations were very serious."
