Eugene Robinson: Clinton 'Got Creamed' in New Hampshire

Morning Joe panelist Eugene Robinson was blunt about Hillary Clinton’s Tuesday night loss to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) in New Hampshire: "She got creamed."

Robinson also noted that this was "not a good morning for Hillary Clinton. Period."

ABC reported the Clinton was doing some "soul-searching" after Sanders routed her with 60 percent of the vote.

"I wonder how much those issues, the honesty and trustworthy issues, will affect her in South Carolina," Robinson said.

Polls showed that Sanders won overwhelmingly among voters who cited trustworthiness as the most important quality they look for in a candidate.

"It’s not quite clear—it's also unclear what sort of traction Bernie Sanders will get among African-American voters there. We’ll see how he does with Latino voters in Nevada," Robinson said, referring to Clinton’s lead with African-American voters in South Carolina.

Sanders has made an effort to woo minority voters as his position in national polls has improved. Sanders met with Al Sharpton, the former MSNBC primetime host and influential activist, on Wednesday to make his case.

Host Joe Scarborough asked Robinson if he could think of an example in modern American politics that parallels Clinton's 22-point loss in New Hampshire, the same state she won in 2008 in an upset over Barack Obama.

"No, of course, you know, this year it doesn't have great parallels, right, because there's no—there hasn't been a Donald Trump, there hasn't been anything like this. But, look, she squeaked by in Iowa. She got creamed in New Hampshire. A lot more people have voted for Bernie Sanders, a lot more Democrats," Robinson said.
