MSNBC Shows Wisconsin Protesters Having Meltdowns After Electors Vote for Trump

MSNBC showed a clip on Monday of protesters in Madison, Wisconsin having meltdowns after the state's presidential electors officially voted for Donald Trump, making him the winner in the key battleground state.

MSNBC said the incident occurred in Columbus, Ohio, but it was actually in Madison.

"The votes are ten votes for Donald J. Trump," said Brad Courtney, the chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party who also chaired Monday's Electoral College meeting.

Wisconsin has 10 votes in the Electoral College, all of which went to Trump, the president-elect.

As soon as Courtney announced the results of the vote, yelling erupted in the room from anti-Trump protesters.

When the camera panned to look at the unhappy audience, protesting signs could be seen.

"Trump lost the popular vote by 2.8. million and growing ...," one sign read.

An unhappy woman in purple stood up and started screaming at the chairman.

"You sold out our country," she said while waving her hands.

She then started to insult the Electoral College.

"Every one of you, you're pathetic," she said. "You don't deserve to be in America."

People in the audience began chanting "shame" as the woman in purple continuing shouting. A man approached her, appearing to try to get her to stop yelling or remove her from the room.

"You can remove me if you want to," she said to the man. "This is my America!"

Trump won 306 Electoral College votes on Nov. 8, while his opponent, Hillary Clinton, only won 232.

To win the presidency, a candidate needs at least 270 votes.
