Colbert Compares 'Trauma' of Election Night to Being Sexually Assaulted

Late-night host Stephen Colbert compared the trauma he felt the night Donald Trump won the presidency to that of being sexually assaulted during his routine Wednesday night.

Colbert went after Trump for his imitation at a rally this week of Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a house party in 1982. Trump did an impression of her being unable to remember specific details about the attack to cheers and applause at his rally, leading to condemnation by Democrats and some Republicans.

Colbert, who focuses nearly all of his opening routines on skewering the Trump administration, played the clip of Trump for his audience.

"Listen, Donny, trauma survivors don't always remember every detail," Colbert said. "For instance, on Election Night, I don't remember what color tie I was wearing. I just remember trying to tighten it until the blood stopped flowing to my brain."

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle appreciatively played the clip of Colbert on her program Thursday morning.

The comedian, an open supporter of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party—he once cooed "I miss you" after playing a clip of former President Barack Obama—was visibly distraught during his live election special the night Trump won. His tie was red and blue.

Colbert also said Trump was going after the "woman vote" with his comments, quipping only one woman would vote for him after that as a picture of Donald Trump Jr. in a wig appeared on screen. The crowd appeared to enjoy the sight gag.
