Clinton Declares Democratic Primary Over: 'There Is No Way That I Won't Be' the Nominee

Hillary Clinton objected to CNN host Chris Cuomo stating "if" she would be the Democratic nominee during their interview Thursday, interrupting to say she had the nomination in the bag.

"So you get into the general election, if you're the nominee for your party—" Cuomo said.

"I will be the nominee for my party, Chris," Clinton said. "That is already done, in effect. There is no way that I won't be."

Cuomo quipped that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), whose angry supporters believe the primary process has been rigged against him, might have something to say about that. Sanders has vowed to fight all the way to this summer's Democratic convention, even though his mathematical path to the nomination is essentially closed.

Furious Sanders backers caused chaos with fighting and booing at the party's Nevada state convention last weekend over accusations of cheating, even hurling death threats at the party chair there. DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) condemned the violence and slammed Sanders for not doing enough to calm his people.

"There seems to be a change here," Cuomo said. "As Donald Trump is trying to galvanize his party, in the Democratic Party, it seems to be going the other way. His supporters have become more aggressive, feeling that the system is rigged against the senator. We saw what happened in Nevada. When you saw that, did you believe that Sanders responded the right way to that situation?"

"Well, I was very disturbed by what went on there," Clinton said.

"With him or with the supporters?" Cuomo asked.

"Well, what we saw ... What we saw was disturbing, and I have every confidence we're going to be unified," Clinton said, pointing to her 2008 battle with Barack Obama for the nomination. Clinton ultimately endorsed Obama after the bruising primary season, and he went on to win the White House.
