Clinton Calls for Interventions for Trump Voters

September 30, 2016

Hillary Clinton called for her supporters to stage interventions for their friends thinking about voting for Donald Trump on Friday during a rally in Coral Springs, Florida.

"Really," Clinton said. "Because remember, friends don’t let friends vote for Trump."

When suggesting how to get more people to vote for her, Clinton gave the rally audience a new idea, relaying a template in order to perform the intervention.

"So, here is what I hope you will do," she said. "When you leave here, if somebody says, ‘Where were you this afternoon?’ You say, ‘Oh, I went to a rally for Hillary Clinton.’"

The crowd cheered.

"If they say, ‘Oh that’s great!’ Get them registered," she said.

However, if the friend has a negative reaction to the prospect of their friend going to a Clinton campaign event, she had different advice.

"If they say, ‘Oh my gosh, how can you do that?’" Clinton said. "If they’re seriously thinking about voting for my opponent, stage an intervention."

The crowd cheered loudly and laughed.

Clinton has made pitches in the past to Independents and Republicans leaning against Trump.

However, she has gotten into hot water recently for referring to Trump supporters as a "basket of deplorables."

Now, she wants her supporters to go ahead and convert people themselves.
