Bash: Clinton 'Thought She Was Above the Rules'

After a State Department inspector general concluded that Hillary Clinton did not comply with the department's policy on record keeping, CNN's Dana Bash said that Clinton's opponents will use the report to say that she thought she was above the rules.

"In politics, it is the existing narrative and the ability by opponents to feed into that that is the most damaging. You see it time and time again," Bash said. "The narrative of course is, you hear Donald Trump doing it in only a way that he does, calling her 'Crooked Hillary.' The fact that she didn't comply with the rules, that she appears to be doing things that she thought she was above the rules or she's different from the rules."

The State Department released a report to lawmakers that revealed that Clinton and her top aides: Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, and Jake Sullivan, did not cooperate with the review. The report specifically hits Clinton for her use of personal email during her time as secretary of state.

"This is something many, many, many people who I talked to who support her just wring their hands and say, 'What were you thinking?'" Bash said.

Clinton is still under FBI investigation for her use of a private email server. Clinton maintains that the FBI has not reached out to her for an interview on the server setup.

FBI director James Comey said that there is no timeline for the completion of the investigation but is keeping a close watch on the investigation to make sure that it is completed properly and promptly.
