A Second Man Dies in Home of Democratic Donor

A young black man died in the home of prominent Democratic donor Ed Buck.

The man's body was found in Buck's West Hollywood apartment, Advocate reports.

The Democratic donor "allegedly has a fetish for drugging sex workers," and was previously investigated after a man named Genmel Moore died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck's home in 2017. The death was deemed an accidental overdose; however, several young gay black men have claimed Buck "has a fetish for shooting drugs into black men he picks up off the street or on hookup sites."

"I’ve become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that," Moore wrote in his journal before he died. "Ed Buck is the one to thank. He gave me my first injection of crystal meth."

The Los Angeles County District Attorney did not file charges against Buck, citing "insufficient evidence."

"City Council members John D’Amico and Lindsey Horvath have reached out to City Manager Paul Arevalo, asking him to request that newly elected Sheriff Alex Villanueva put priority on investigating [the man's] death," according to Wehoville. "Councilmember Lauren Meister also has pressed for the homicide division to investigate."

A rally is set to be held at Buck's home to call on the district attorney to "prosecute him for murder after another young Black gay man was found dead in his West Hollywood apartment of an apparent overdose."

Several Democratic politicians have returned donations from Buck. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D., Ariz.), who was elected in November, donated over $30,000 to charity to distance herself from campaign contributions from Buck. Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D.) also returned donations from him.

Federal election records show Buck has given over $150,000 to Democratic campaigns and causes since 2004.
