Wife of Pulse Nightclub Shooter Arrested

Noor Salman has been arrested for her involvement in the deadly attack at the Pulse nightclub last June. Salman was taken into custody at her house outside of San Francisco, according to the New York Times.

Salman, the wife of Pulse shooter Omar Mateen, had been questioned by the FBI immediately following the shooting in Orlando. FBI investigators have been considering charges since that time, believing she was lying about her knowledge of her husband's planned attack.

Salman is expected to make an initial court appearance in front of a federal judge on Tuesday. It is believed she is facing obstruction charges. A separate report from CBS News states that Salman also will face charges of aiding and abetting Mateen in his crime.

Salman's husband was killed in a shootout with police following his attack on the gay nightclub, which killed 49. During the attack he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in phone calls to the authorities. During her interview with FBI investigators, Salman stated that her husband had been radicalized the year before the June attack, according to CBS News.

There has been wide speculation by law enforcement officials about the role Salman played in helping her husband. She claims to have tried to talk her husband out of committing the terror attack.
