President Donald Trump landed in Singapore on Air Force One Sunday at 8:21 p.m. local time in advance of a Tuesday summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
Trump flew to Singapore from Canada, where he had been in attendance at the G7 meeting in La Malbaie, Quebec, with the leaders of that country as well as France, Germany, Japan, Italy, and the U.K.
Air Force One touched down at Singapore's Paya Lebal Air Base where a limousine waited for the president. Trump came down from the plane in front of a large group of reporters from around the world as he was greeted by Singaporean officials. Trump's limousine drove out around 8:32 p.m. local time.
Trump went to the Shangri-La Hotel where he and others in the American delegation will stay during the summit.
Singaporean military members were seen posing for photographs with Air Force One after Trump departed the air base.
North Korea's Kim had already arrived in Singapore, flying in on an Air China Boeing 747 at a commercial airport. Kim is meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Trump will meet with the Prime Minister on Monday.
Tuesday, Trump and Lee are scheduled to meet face-to-face for the first time. Meanwhile, the summit will focus on ending North Korea's rogue nuclear program.
In the last year, the North Koreans have launched test missiles and claimed to have the technology to strike the U.S. with an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Trump warned Kim last year not to continue with his nuclear program, or else face "fire and fury" for threatening the U.S., but Trump said this past week that the goal is no longer "maximum pressure" but to strike a deal to denuclearize.
