Graham: Trump Has 'Basically Drawn a Red Line' With North Korea's Nuclear Program

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) told CBS host Charlie Rose on Wednesday the United States is "absolutely" ready to act on North Korea and President Donald Trump has drawn a red line with the county's nuclear program.

"Do you believe that the United States is prepared to act?" Rose asked.

"Oh absolutely," Graham said. "There are two scenarios where we would go to war with North Korea: They attack Guam or some other American interest or our allies, or if they try to keep developing an ICBM with a nuclear weapon on top to hit the homeland."

Graham continued by saying that Trump has "basically drawn a red line" and that he will never allow North Korea to attack the United States with an ICBM missile.

"He's not going to contain the threat. He's going to stop the threat," Graham said.

Rose followed up by asking Graham about the casualties that could result from a North Korean retaliatory attack on South Korea.

"General [James] Mattis described it very well: it would be a horrific war, unfortunately," Graham said. "We are headed that way unless North Korea stops. Put yourself in President Trump's shoes for a moment. Where does your allegiance lie? Isn't your primary purpose as president of the United States to protect the American homeland from a nuclear weapon attack by a guy like Kim Jong Un?"

Graham said the United States is headed towards a war with North Korea unless the world can stop it. He went on to say that this potential conflict is not a language problem, but a regime that has been trying to get the nuclear capabilities to attack the United States.

Trump delivered a strong warning Tuesday against North Korea if the rogue country makes any future threats against the United States, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States," Trump said. "They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen."

"[Kim Jong-un] has been very threatening beyond a normal statement, and as I said, they will be met with fire, fury, and, frankly, power, the likes of which this world has never seen before," Trump concluded. "Thank you."
