Hume, Harman Criticize Leaks Coming Out of White House

Former California Rep. Jane Harman (D.) said "leakers should be prosecuted" in response to the torrent of leaks coming out of the White House in recent weeks.

A series of articles citing high-level sources within the Trump administration concerning the investigation into Russian meddling in the election have raised a series of ethical questions about leaking such information.

"Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace asked Harman if she was troubled by the trend.

"Very troubled," Harman said. "John McCain is right. Leakers should be prosecuted. The Justice Department should go after leakers. We have enough statutes to prosecute them, and this climate of partial leaking is even worse, because then there are selected quotes and you can make anything seem true."

Conservative journalist Brit Hume also had sharp words for leakers on the program.

"I've never seen leaks on this scale," he said. "Jason Riley of The Wall Street Journal ... saying here the other day that there are leaks and then there's Niagara Falls. Well, we are under Niagara Falls right now. I've never seen anything like it. The problem with it is even if you assume, Chris, that all of these excerpts we are seeing, from memos and conversations and all the rest of it, are accurate—they are only part of the story, and we have to wait a while to get the rest of the story."
