Greg Abbott / Office of the Governor

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed an open carry and campus carry law before hitting the range to celebrate the new statutes on Saturday.

"Today I am proud to expand liberty in the Lone Star State," Abbott said in a press release. "By signing these bills into law, Texans can be assured that their Second Amendment rights will be stronger and more secure than ever before." The new laws will allow anyone with a Texas concealed carry license to openly carry their firearm as well as carry their firearm on a public university property. The governor signed the bills at Red's Indoor Range in Pflugerville, Texas and took the opportunity to practice his shot.
