MSNBC Calls Out Dem For Awkward Dodge on Keystone Question

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D., N.Y.) was unable to give a logical answer when asked about the Keystone XL Pipeline on Morning Joe Wednesday.

Appearing with Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R., Tenn.), the New York congresswoman appeared to be flustered and caught off guard when Joe Scarborough asked the duo about their opinions of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Maloney painfully deflected, choosing instead to speak about a topic previously mentioned on the show- the proposed National Women’s History Museum.

She nervously laughed before telling the panel "Keystone. Well, let’s focus on building this museum and making it happen…Let’s move forward…There is not one women’s museum on the [National] Mall, although we have museums on stamps, and law and order, and everything else, but there’s not one in the United States that I can find that is devoted totally to the contributions of women and I can’t even find one in the world…"

Exasperated with Maloney’s awkward answer, Mika Brzezinski interjected, "Hold on one second. I love the idea- I’m the first person to say this is a good idea. Can we ask you two about Keystone?"

Scarborough added, "Carolyn, yes or no- good or bad idea?"

"Well, let’s see how it evolves. It’s evolving. There are many arguments on both sides," Maloney vaguely, sheepishly responded.
