House minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) has raised more than $100 million in support of Republican efforts to take back the House this cycle, more than double what any Republican leader has raised in history.

McCarthy said Thursday that he raised $16 million in the third quarter, bringing his haul for the cycle to $103 million. The war chest is more than twice what former Republican leader Paul Ryan had raised at this point in the 2016 election cycle, which was at the time a fundraising record.

McCarthy expressed confidence that candidates across the country will have "substantial resources" to get their message out.

"We will continue to share our Commitment to America and contrast our optimistic, achievable vision with the Democrats' agenda to defund the police and military, destroy our economy, and dismantle our freedoms and the Constitution," McCarthy said.
