Group Calls for J Street to Be Tossed Out of Jewish Community

A prominent interfaith organization is calling for the ejection of the anti-Israel group J Street from the Jewish community due to its support for a recently inked nuclear accord with Iran that experts warn endangers the Jewish state.

Just a week after the announcement of a nuclear deal between world powers and Iran, Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT) called out J Street for its connection to a range of shadowy organizations that are funding a major pro-Iran push.

"It is time for J Street to go." APT leaders Charles Jacobs and Elliott Hamilton wrote in an op-ed published Friday.

"Israel and its Jews are directly threatened with nuclear extinction and J Street is working hard to enable this catastrophe," the op-ed continues. "With the majority of Jewish organizations coming together to combat this existentially dangerous deal with Iran, now is the time for Jewish leaders who care about unity and who care about Jewish life to show J Street their tent’s exit flap."

In April, when the framework of the agreement was announced, J Street jointly released a supportive statement with the pro-Tehran National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) and the Arab American Institute (AAI).

Once the deal was struck, J Street undertook a multi-million dollar campaign to encourage American Jews to support the deal, according to APT.

"J Street has a history of taking significant sums of money from anti-Israel sources—and lying about it." Jacobs and Hamilton wrote.

Numerous Jewish and pro-Israel organizations have already mobilized against the Iran deal. They include the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and Christians United for Israel (CUFI).
