Don Lemon Files Police Report After Receiving Death Threats: 'Can't Wait to Stab Your Neck'

Don Lemon filed an aggravated harassment report with the New York Police Department on Wednesday after a Twitter user sent the CNN host multiple messages threatening to find and stab him, according to law enforcement officials.

The social media user sent private messages to Lemon over Twitter calling him the n-word and saying he would track him down, prompting Lemon to contact the NYPD, People reported Thursday. A department spokesman said the matter is being investigated, not just as harassment but also for the threat.

"It was harassment and they also made a threat. The person said, 'I will find you real soon.' And called [Lemon] a f—— n-word," the spokesman said. "It's being investigated at this time."

TMZ first reported Lemon's actions and the text of some of the messages, citing law enforcement officials. The Twitter user called Lemon a series of names and threatened to stab him.

"F*** you n***** can't wait to stab your neck," one message reads.

"U r a pile of rotting Dogshit, racist, communist, socialist, Liberal moron asshole,i will find u U will pay.ill see u real soon... [sic]," another says.

TMZ also revealed the text of the alleged harasser's Twitter bio, in which the individual—who TMZ reported is a man—describes himself as a "white nationalist" who is "heavily armed."

"White nationalist conservative . pro gun anti islam anti terrorist anti leftist yes i HATE demorats, blm, antifa ,socialists. heavily armed racist.WLM [sic]," his bio reads.

Both People and TMZ reported that the man's threats could be considered and investigated as a hate crime.

Lemon filed the police report less than two days after he published an open letter to President Donald Trump in which he criticized Trump's comments to Gold Star widow Myeshia Johnson, whose husband was one of four American soldiers killed in Niger earlier this month.

Lemon hosts "CNN Tonight" at 10 p.m., in addition to doing other work as a correspondent for the network.
