Vice President-elect Kamala Harris snubbed vocal Israel critic Karine Jean-Pierre in the final months of the presidential campaign.
Jean-Pierre, whom President-elect Joe Biden tapped for Harris's chief of staff while on the campaign trail, was "not a good fit" and "estranged" from Harris's inner circle, sources told Politico. Harris left Jean-Pierre off her list of White House staff picks.
Biden apparently didn't deem Jean-Pierre a good fit either. While there was speculation that Biden would name Jean-Pierre White House press secretary, she will instead assume the role of principal deputy press secretary when he takes office in January.
Before being drafted for Biden's team, Jean-Pierre worked as a senior adviser and national spokeswoman for MoveOn.org, a leftist group that supports boycotting Israel.
Jean-Pierre wrote an op-ed last year that blamed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee for the Trump administration's withdrawal from the failed Iran nuclear deal. She accused the group of being "racist," "Islamophobic," and "anti-Muslim."
Like most of Biden's administration picks, Jean-Pierre worked in the Obama White House, serving as the regional political director for the Office of Public Affairs.
