It's Not Just Dogs: Women Can't Stand Beto O'Rourke, Either

Dogs aren't the only demographic group that is turned off out by Beto O'Rourke, the failed Senate candidate who, for some reason, is running for president in the Democratic primary.

It would appear that women, at least the Democratic ones, are also not really buying what Beto is selling. According to a Monmouth University poll released on Thursday, O'Rourke is performing abysmally among female voters nationwide, winning the support of just 2 percent, which puts him in a tie for seventh place with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D., Minn.) and "no one."

Beto also finds himself in seventh place, at 4 percent, among all demographics of registered voters, according to the poll. His best demographic appears to be old white men with college degrees, which seems about right. Beto is winning the support of 6 percent of male voters, and 5 percent of voters over the age of 50, compared to 3 percent of younger voters. He enjoys a similar advantage among voters with a four-year degree.

Perhaps the most notable development, per the poll's findings, is that Democratic voters appear to be shedding the misconceived notion that Hillary Clinton's humiliating loss to Donald Trump in 2016 was almost entirely due to her gender, rather than her profound deficiencies both as a candidate and as a human being.

Support for female primary candidates is growing. Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) continue to lead the pack at 33 percent and 15 percent, respectively. However, Sens. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) are also polling in double digits—Harris in third at 11 percent, Warren in fourth at 10 percent.

"Undecided" is close behind, at 9 percent.
