Nowadays, nothing can happen in left-wing politics without it being an opportunity for a timeless #hashtag to show #resistance.
The latest example is the saga of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), this hour's #YasQueen because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell invoked an obscure rule Tuesday night and led a party-line reprimand of her for reading a Coretta Scott King letter critical of Attorney General nominee Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.).
"Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech," McConnell said. "She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted."
As a result of McConnell's wording, #ShePersisted has become another rallying cry hashtag for Twitter activists to share #badass photos of famous women throughout history who #persisted in the face of adversity.
Here are the most inspiring examples.
