CNN host Erin Burnett tweeted Wednesday that politicians "lack courage to stand up to" the National Rifle Association but praised Dick's Sporting Goods for its new restrictions on gun sales.

Dick's, one of the nation's largest sporting goods retailers, announced it would no longer sell "assault-style rifles" or "high-capacity magazines," and also would cease selling guns of any type to anyone under 21 years of age.

Burnett, who hosts the news program OutFront at 7 p.m. ET, tweeted, "Politicians may lack courage to stand up to NRA. But Dick’s Sporting Goods, USA’s largest sporting goods retailer, will stop selling assault-style weapons and raise minimum age for all gun sales to 21."

Burnett hasn't been the only CNN host to show an open point of view on the debate over gun control and the influence of the NRA.

"New Day" host Chris Cuomo praised guest David Jolly, a former Republican congressman from Florida, for being on the "right side" of the issue because of his support for stricter gun laws.

"Tonight" host Don Lemon called the notion of having an "open mind" toward arming teachers "stupid," and daytime host Brooke Baldwin ripped into a GOP legislator in Florida for voting down debate for an assault weapons ban, shouting at him to stop using his "talking points."
