White House on Mueller Investigation: 'Facts Are on Our Side'

October 31, 2017

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to questions on Tuesday about the expected time frame for special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian involvement the 2016 presidential election.

A White House reporter asked Sanders if her previous comments, where she expressed her belief that the investigation will be wrapped up "soon," were "wishful thinking" or "spin." The press secretary said the White House does think it will wrap up soon because the "facts are on our side." She affirmed President Donald Trump's stance that there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Russia.

"We do think it will wrap up soon. I didn't say it would be three or four days, I said soon and we hope that that's the case," Sanders said. "In large part, because we know that the facts are on our side. There was no collusion, and we're looking forward to moving forward and hoping you guys can as well."

Sanders concluded her response by saying the administration thinks the conversation should be focused on concerns that are important to the American people.

"We can actually start talking about it and focusing on some of the things that … we feel the American people would rather the conversation be turned toward," Sanders said.
