Trevor Noah Calls Out 'Vegan ISIS' Antifa: 'You're Also Punching Your Cause'

September 1, 2017

Host of Comedy Central's Daily Show Trevor Noah took aim at the leftist "antifa" movement on Thursday, criticizing its members for hurting their own cause by resorting to violence.

Noah began by noting that antifa had many different dimensions, including peaceful activism and unmasking white supremacists. But he denounced the increasing use of violence at Antifa demonstrations.

In particular, he mocked a Berkeley, Calif. Antifa leader who claimed that her destroying the window a of local Starbucks was "symbolic."

"You might think it's some deep statement, but most people see that and think, 'Great, now I've got to walk a whole block to the next Starbucks,'" he joked.

"It definitely doesn't convince the Starbucks guy, the person who's gonna be in the store cleaning up the glass saying, 'Yeah, they made a good point about fascism, I understand what they mean.' No, they don't think that," Noah continued.

He said that it does not matter how noble Antifa activists believes their cause is, because "when people see that, all they think is, "Oh shit, it's vegan ISIS."

"When you think you're punching Nazis, you don't realize that you're also punching your cause," Noah said. "Because your opponents will just use every violent incident to discredit your entire movement."
