Paul Begala Flips Out on CNN While Defending Clinton Foundation

August 24, 2016

Senior adviser for Priorities USA Action and Democratic strategist Paul Begala flipped out Wednesday on CNN while defending the Clinton Foundation from accusations of impropriety.

"This is the Associated Press report that both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have now responded to that 85, Hillary Clinton, when she was secretary of state, met with 85 major donors to the Clinton Foundation. They gave something like in total $156 million to the foundation. How is that not paying for access?" host Alisyn Camerota asked Begala.

"How is it?" Begala said.

"They paid money and they got to meet with the secretary of state," Camerota said.

"And who were they and what did they get? This really infuriates me," Begala said before praising the foundation’s charitable work.

Begala also began to talk about and praise Muhammad Yunus, a Bangladeshi economist who talked with Clinton multiple times.

As Camerota began to try to ask Begala a follow up question, Begala talked over her.

Then former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski criticized the Clinton Foundation, causing Begala to grow irritated.

"This is politics at its worst and this is a completely new standard," Begala said. "This is what the press and the Republicans do every time the Clintons run. There’s a different standard for the Clintons."

Lewandowski then mentioned how many view Hillary Clinton as being untrustworthy.

"Ask the American people, go out and walk out out on the street and say, ‘if you give a million dollars or $200,000, do you expect access?’ The answer is yes," Lewandowski said. "The problem is that 11 percent of the American people think that Clinton is honest and trustworthy. 11 percent, that’s all. This doesn’t help her."

Before Lewandowski could finish talking, Begala was already loudly talking over him.

"There’s not a single allegation of wrong doing," Begala said.
