Jeff Weaver: There is Evidence Debbie Wasserman Schultz Has Been Against Sanders Campaign

May 23, 2016

Bernie Sanders' (I., Vt.) campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, listed a number of instances when Democratic National Convention chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was unfair toward the Sanders campaign in an interview on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports.

Over the weekend, Sanders expressed his support for Wasserman-Schultz's opponent, Tim Canova, during an interview with Jake Tapper.

"Well, clearly, I favor her opponent," Sanders said. "His views are much closer to mine than as to Wasserman Schultz's."

Andrea Mitchell asked Weaver if Wasserman Schultz should step down as chair on Monday.
Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver responded by listing a number of instances when Sanders was treated unfairly by the DNC chair.
"I think there has been a number of instances of unfairness. I think people are aware of those," Weaver said. "Certainly the debate scheduling through this process, the handling of the data issue, the joint fundraising agreement, which is taking money out of state parties and giving it to the DNC, the appointment of standing committees to the convention where there are 75 appointments and she only picked three of our people then appointed chairs who were very very hostile to our campaign."
"So, I think, on issue after issue, there has been evidence that she has certainly been against the Sanders campaign," Weaver said.
