A 32-year-old man was arrested in Fairfax, Virginia Sunday after he threw a sandwich at another man and fled, according to the Washington Post.
The crime was perpetrated around 9 p.m. in the parking lot of a pizza restaurant. The victim, a 50-year-old man, said that the perpetrator threw a sandwich at him and then made a run for it.
No injuries were reported.
The perpetrator’s motive remains unknown, although he was reportedly drunk at the time. The type of sandwich also remains unknown.
Following the assault, Loring tailed the sandwich-thrower, who police have identified as Jonathan M. Magnes of Morristown, New Jersey.
Magnes was then charged with assault and battery, as well as with driving under the influence.
Since the incident’s occurrence, the Washingtonian has found a gap in the narrative.
The pizza restaurant where the sandwich was thrown only sells pizzas, salads, and sides, according to Steve Schreiber, the restaurant’s director of operations. Schreiber told the Washingtonian that the sandwich-thrower allegedly obtained the lunchtime staple at a nearby 7-Eleven.
A recent report by the World Health Organization corroborates the potential danger of sandwiches. The report found that sandwiches, specifically those of the pastrami variety, can be life-threatening.
