The Senate is poised to pass legislation that would finally authorize the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.) thinks President Obama has become so toxic with the Democrats who survived the 2014 mid-term elections that the Republicans could very well rally together enough disaffected Democrats to override a potential presidential veto of the Keystone Pipeline bill.
After the beating the Democrats took, keep in mind we have another election coming up in 2016, when that happens there are a lot of Democrats who will not be real excited about President Obama. Just look at the last election, how few Democrats wanted Obama to come into their states to campaign for him.
Inhofe went on to explain that presidents in the final two years of their second term have historically registered low favorability ratings with the American people. "I think Obama's going to set a record for unpopularity. When theses guys coming up I think they'll be running for the opportunity [to separate themselves,]" he said.
Inhofe made the comments Thursday morning on WMAL's "Mornings on the Mall." Co-host Brian Wilson asked Inhofe to clarify his remarks, "So you think it is possible that if they pass it they might be able to override a presidential veto?"
"I think so, I think so," Inhofe concluded.
