FLASHBACK: Son of Dem Donor Relieved Dad Isn't 'Going to Kill Me in My Sleep'

The son of a high-dollar Democratic donor with alleged Russian mob connections was relieved that his father did not murder him in his sleep, he said in an interview in May.

Alex Lasry, the son of Obama bundler and Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry, served as the NBA team’s representative at the league’s draft lottery.

"Luckily we got off the board at number two, and I could calm down, breathe deeply and know my dad wasn't going to kill me in my sleep that night," the younger Lasry said in an interview with a Bucks blogger.

His father, a major Democratic donor, was recently forced to withdraw from contention for ambassador to France after his ties to an alleged Russian mobster came under scrutiny, the Free Beacon reported last week:

Lasry has donated more than $460,000 to Democratic candidates and party organs since the 1990s, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, including $9,600 to Barack Obama’s two presidential campaigns.

He also bundled more than half a million dollars for the president’s reelection effort.

Like many Obama bundlers, Lasry was tapped for an ambassadorship—to France, in his case. But he was forced to withdraw his name from contention due to his ties to an alleged Russian mobster.

Lasry is reportedly a close friend of Illya Trincher, who was arrested last year for his role in an alleged Russian mob-run gambling racket in New York.

Lasry’s work for Obama also paid off for his son: Alex Lasry worked in the White House from September 2010 to May 2012, according to his LinkedIn page.

Lasry was a special assistant to then-chief of staff Bill Daley, and then took a position as Deputy Counselor for Strategic Engagement.
